PHYT 7334 Clinical Diagnosis & Management VII: Pediatrics & Geriatrics
This course emphasizes the examination, evaluation, and treatment techniques relevant to the practice of physical therapy for patients across the lifespan including children from birth through the teen years as well as the older adult or geriatric population as the students understand the developmental and anatomical/physiological differences among these specialized populations. In the pediatric section, students will utilize various assessment protocols to determine developmental levels of functioning and developmental reflexes including primitive reflexes, righting, and equilibrium reactions. In the geriatric section, students will also utilize and interpret selected assessment tools to determine the physiologic health, functional status, and risk for injuries and disorders that are prevalent in this age group.
