PHYT 7328 Health Care Management

This course is designed to assist the student in understanding the ever-changing healthcare system. Topics of discussion include healthcare delivery systems, legal aspects of healthcare delivery, personnel and resource management, marketing and service management, risk management/legal issues for management, personnel issues specifically dealing with EEOC and ADA, finances, billing, laws and regulations affecting physical therapists and the roles and relationships of healthcare delivery professionals and support personnel. Emphasis is on the understanding of strategies and financial planning required to develop a viable physical therapy clinic; documentation required by Medicare, Medicaid, and Workman’s Compensation; and managing financial performance while maximizing reimbursement in different clinical settings.
