SURG 2204 Surgical Instruments and Sterile Techniques
This didactic course provides comprehensive instruction in surgical instrumentation, sterile technique, aseptic principles, and infection prevention. Content includes instrument identification, handling, care, and counting procedures; sterile field maintenance; and principles of sterilization and disinfection. This course supports preparation for laboratory and clinical application.
Prerequisite
These courses are required as it provides the foundational knowledge and skills necessary to build upon in subsequent nursing coursework and clinical experiences.
Corequisite
This clinical course must be taken concurrently with the associated didactic course to support the immediate application of theory, skills, and clinical reasoning in the supervised practice environment.
