SURG 2203 Surgical Procedures I
Introduces the scientific and technical principles that support safe surgical practice, including surgical instrumentation, equipment handling, sterile technique, surgical procedures, and perioperative workflow. Emphasis is placed on instrument identification, selection of appropriate supplies, application of aseptic technique, and understanding procedural sequencing across multiple surgical specialties.
Prerequisite
These courses are required as it provides the foundational knowledge and skills necessary to build upon in subsequent nursing coursework and clinical experiences.
Corequisite
This clinical course must be taken concurrently with the associated didactic course to support the immediate application of theory, skills, and clinical reasoning in the supervised practice environment.
