HIST 5361 Modern Britain
A survey of the history of England, the empire and commonwealth since 1688, with emphasis on twentieth century England. Special attention will be given to the social, political, intellectual, and diplomatic development of the English nation from a regional European power to a global empire, with final analysis on the United Kingdom as it enters the twenty-first century.
