NUR 2307 Medical-Surgical Nursing Care I
This didactic course emphasizes the principles of professional nursing care in rural and urban settings for adult and older adult patients experiencing acute and/or chronic health alterations that require medical or surgical intervention and incorporates the utilization of information and healthcare technologies.
This course focuses on caring for patients with alterations in the following selected body functions: integumentary, sensory, endocrine, cardiovascular, and respiratory systems, as well as fluid and electrolyte balance, acid-base balance, perioperative care, and end-of-life care.
Prerequisite
This course is required as it provides the foundational knowledge and skills necessary to build upon in subsequent nursing coursework and clinical experiences.
Corequisite
This clinical course must be taken concurrently with the associated didactic course to support the immediate application of theory, skills, and clinical reasoning in the supervised practice environment.
