HLPR 4313 Introduction to Healthcare Practice

This course delves into applying clinical reasoning and judgment throughout the patient care process. Students will gain an understanding of disease processes, treatment options, evaluation methods, and procedures involved in patient care. Additionally, the course will cover practice standards for accurate and complete documentation, legal guidelines for recording client information, alternative record-keeping practices such as computerized documentation, acceptable methods for late entries, and unethical/illegal documentation practices. The course will also explore basic principles and concepts of quality assurance. In addition, this course focuses on effective communication in the realm of healthcare that emphasizes the importance of cultural sensitivity.
