Undergraduates Registering For Graduate Courses

An undergraduate senior with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 may register for no more than six credits of graduate-level courses either to count toward the completion of the undergraduate degree plan, or to count above and beyond the required number of hours for the undergraduate degree. Graduate hours taken above and beyond the requirements of the undergraduate degree may be eligible to count toward a future graduate degree subject to the requirement that all graduate programs require at least thirty hours and two long semesters of coursework after the award of the bachelor’s degree.

The student must have the necessary prerequisite coursework and the written permissions of the undergraduate advisor, the graduate program advisor, and the Dean of the college that offers the course. The Dean’s permission will be based on review of the undergraduate academic record and evidence of the student’s ability to succeed in graduate level coursework. If registration in graduate level coursework results in a course overload, the Provost must also provide signed approval. Undergraduate registration in graduate courses may only be completed in the Registrar’s Office. Students are required to submit the permission form with all required signatures for registration.
