MUTC 4240 Popular Song Writing

This course will cover several aspects of songwriting and arranging, such as setting text to music, composing lyrics, harmonizing a melody, deciding on accompaniment, instrumentation, and textures, and orchestrating existing music such as adding string or brass parts. In addition, the course will address music notation standards and concerns for the modern musician, such as chord charts and lead sheets. Available to non-majors. Does not satisfy fine arts requirement in the foundational curriculum.
