GEOL 3311 Geographic Information Systems

An applied technology and field course that introduces the student to mapping techniques using the Global Positioning System (GPS), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and aerial photography/remote sensing data. Students will complete a project in which they collect field data and map a natural site using ESRI software. The course will require students to effectively use Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) for presentation of mapping projects. This course fulfills the university technology competency requirement.
