CMHC 6361 Crisis, Trauma and Grief Counseling

Theory and pragmatics of crisis, trauma, and grief counseling are addressed. This will include an overview of helping relationships with clients in crises, responding skills for building individual resilience, as well as strong community. Professional response issues regarding prevention and intervention strategies will be discussed. The impact of trauma on development and appropriate intervention strategies will be learned. Grief and loss theories (basic and complicated) will be provided as well as evidence-based interventions with individuals, couples, families, and groups.
