MUPC 3141 Jazz Improvisation

This elective course teaches instrumentalists the rudiments of improvisation in different styles of the jazz idiom. Students will learn jazz nomenclature, chord/scale relationships, and how to improve idiomatic melodies over song's harmonic progression. Students will perform in an ensemble setting. Students must audition for the instructor.
