MUHL 3242 History of Music II

History of Music II is a survey of music of the western hemisphere from the Baroque age to the early Romantic period. This course covers the major compositional forms and their development.  Students will study important  persons, events, schools of thought, and the development of the most important compositions forms in Western music, both secular and sacred. Emphasis will also be placed on understanding and writing about compositional processes, aesthetic properties of style, and the way these shape and are shaped by artistic and cultural forces
