SCWK 1350 Introduction to Social Work

An introduction to the profession of social work and its relationship to the institution of social welfare. Emphasis is placed on common human needs and problems as the nature and range of current social work practice is examined. The historical development and professionalization of social work is studied as well as an overview of current social welfare programs. Students are required to do 30 hours of Community Volunteer Work during the semester.
