ENVS 4312 Geospatial Technology

This course is designed for upper classmen in the sciences who have a need for training in use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The class is drivven by introductory lectures and hands-on computer based activities to teach the fundamental principles behind GIS, train students in the use of GIS, and have the student apply this training toward a realistic geospatial project. In addition, students will be trained in the use of Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers, and portable weather stations/altimeters. Prerequisite: 16 hours of advanced science courses (GEOL, BIOL, CHEM, PHYS) and approval of department head.
