Pre-Speech Language Pathology (Master of Science)

Students who do not have an undergraduate degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) will need to complete 28 hours of leveling courses at HSU. Typically, this can be completed in one fall and one spring semester. The leveling program at HSU begins each fall through the undergraduate CSD program. Following the first (fall) semester of leveling students may apply to the graduate program in Speech Language Pathology (SLP) through the Communication Sciences and Disorders Central Application system (http://www.csdcas.org). HSU reserves up to three seats in the SLP program for leveling students who earn at least a 3.25 GPA in the program and meet other admission requirements, including scoring well on the GRE and an acceptable interview. Leveling students may be provisionally admitted to the graduate program while awaiting completion of the spring semester.

The HSU SLP graduate program welcomes all students from the HSU CSD department to apply through CSDCAS. HSU reserves a minimum of 5 seats in the graduate SLP program for undergraduate students completing their CSD studies at HSU if their overall GPA is 3.25 and they meet other admission requirements, including scoring well on the GRE and an acceptable interview. Preference to additional HSU CSD and leveling students will be considered when making final seat selections.

All students, including leveling students, must have completed each of the following 3-hour courses prior to ASHA certification:

• Biological Science
• Physical Science (Physics or Chemistry)
• Social or Behavioral Science
• Statistics
• Audiology
• Aural Rehabilitation
