MUHL 5243 Music of the Romantic Era
A survey of music from 1800-1900, the music of Beethoven to the Impressionists. Consideration will be given to the importance of literary associations with music in the works of the Romanticcists and to the trend in the art leading to the character piece, programmatic music, the Music Drama, and the Symphonic Poem.
